Ernest Hausmann is an outside linebacker who will be playing his second season with the Michigan Wolverines. Hausmann started playing high school football at Columbus High School where he played on both offense as a wide receiver and defense, as a linebacker. He was rated a three-star prospect and was ranked the No.5 player in the state of Nebraska. In his three-year prep career, Hausmann recorded 190 tackles, 16 tackles for loss and three interceptions as a linebacker and 72 receptions for 1,053 yards and 14 scores as a wide receiver.
Coming out of Columbus as the No.678 overall player nationally in the 2022 recruiting class, Hausmann chose to stay home and enroll with the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He held Power Five offers from Arizona State, Michigan, Michigan State, Iowa, Minnesota and Virginia. In his freshman season with the Cornhuskers, Hausmann saw significant game time appearing in all 12 games with seven starts and notched 54 tackles, two tackles for loss and one sack. But he decided to enter the transfer portal after Nebraska head coach Scott Frost was fired. Hausmann was considered one of the top defensive transfers after his move to Michigan Wolverines in 2023. He stepped into a bigger role along the defensive interior in his sophomore campaign winning the national championship in 2023. The outside linebacker finished the 2023 season third on the team with 46 tackles and two tackles for loss.
