Nico Iamaleava is an American college football player who will be back in Knoxville to play his second season of college football with the Tennessee Volunteers. Iamaleava began his high school career at Long Beach Polytechnic High School where he played volleyball in his freshman year before transferring to Warren High. Iamaleava was regarded as one of the top volleyball prospects in the country. In his junior year, he led Warren Bears to an 8-1 record and a playoff appearance in his junior year. As a senior, Iamaleava was named the 2022 Polynesian Football Player of the Year. On the season, he led his school to a 9-2 record and threw for 1,726 yards and 25 touchdowns while adding 399 rushing yards and six touchdowns. The five-star quarterback from Long Beach was rated one of the top players in the 2023 recruiting class and started his collegiate football journey with the Tennessee Volunteers. He also held offers from top programs like Alabama, Auburn, Arizona State, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, and USC among others.

In his freshman season, Iamaleava acted as a backup quarterback to Joe Milton and earned his first redshirt. He concluded his rookie campaign with five games with one start while passing for 314 yards and two touchdowns. Iamaleava earned his first career start in the Citrus Bowl where he tabbed 178 passing yards and was named the MVP. In 2024, Iamaleava was named the starting quarterback for the Volunteers after sitting for the majority of his freshman campaign.
