Sam Leavitt is an American collegiate quarterback plying his trade with the Arizona State Sun Devils. Leavitt began his high school football career at Westview High School. He spent his sophomore year at Pleasant Grove and his senior year at West Linn High School. As a senior, Leavitt led the Lions to the Class 6A state title and passed for 3,184 yards and 36 touchdowns. He was honored with the Gatorade Oregon Football Player of the Year award and was also named the MaxPreps Oregon High School Player of the Year after leading West Linn to a 12-1 record. Leavitt was named the No.1 player in the state of Oregon in the 2023 recruiting class and was rated a four-star prospect by On3 and 247Sports.
Following his prep career, Leavitt started his collegiate journey with Michigan State despite receiving offers from Washington State, Florida State, and Washington. In 2023, as a freshman, Leavitt passed for 139 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. After one season with the Spartans, he transferred to Arizona State, where he was named the starting quarterback. Leavitt passed for 2,663 yards with 24 touchdowns and five interceptions.
