Cade began his collegiate football career at Clemson in 2022 as a freshman. In his first season as a freshman at Clemson, Cade played 10 games and started one as a quarterback. In 2022, Klubnik was named the ACC Championship Game MVP and was selected to the All-ACC Academic Team. Cade recorded Clemson’s fifth consecutive 300-yard passing in a game started by a true freshman, dating to 2018.

In 2023, Cade started all 13 games for the Tigers, completing 290 passes for 19 touchdowns and 9 interceptions, which earned him selection to the All-ACC Academic Team.
