West Indies swashbuckling batter Chris Gayle holds the record of the highest score in the Indian Premier League. Gayle remained unbeaten on 175 off 66 balls against now-defunct franchise Pune Warriors India on April 23, 2013.

The Jamaica-born star wreaked havoc at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium and terrorised the Pune bowlers by his feisty blows. He started his ecstatic knock with five boundaries off Ishwar Pandey and thumped Mitchell Marsh in a 28-run over, including four sixes.

Anything bowled by the spinners got just one treatment. Smashed into the crowds. Ali Murtaza was hit for 17 runs before skipper Aaron Finch conceded 29 runs as Gayle hit another set of four sixes in an over.

Gayle smashed Ashok Dinda's full toss straight down the ground for a six to score the fastest century of IPL in 30 balls. While Gayle reached the three-figure mark, his opening partner Tillakaratne Dilshan was on 17 off 25 balls. It was enough to define the character shown by the Universe Boss.

He took Murtaza to the cleaners with three massive sixes and two fours in the 15th over. He later hit a couple of boundaries against Bhuvneshwar Kumar, the best bowler of Pune on that day, to break Brendon McCullum's record of 158 and became the highest individual scorer in the cash-rich league. Gayle struck 13 fours and 17 sixes in his brutal assault against the Pune outfit.

McCullum set the Indian Premier League with his blistering 158 off 73 balls against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the first game of the Indian Premier League in 2008. McCullum holds the record of highest score in IPL by a wicketkeeper and a right-handed batter.

KL Rahul holds the highest score in IPL by an Indian batter. He made 132 not out against Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2022 when he was the captain of Punjab Kings.
