IPL 2023 Coach

Coaching is the integral part behind a team's performance and brings a lot of inputs in terms of technical aspects of the game. With the modern day game requiring a rapid approach in shorter formats, the coaches are demanding.

With players suffering physical injuries and mental stress in a crammed cricket schedule around the year, there is a need for specific coaches for extensive roles apart from the ones for bowling, batting and fielding.

There are a few changes in the coaching staff of the 10 IPL teams but many faces will be the same as IPL 2023 comes around the corner. Let's take a detailed look at all the 10 head coaches and their support staff for IPL 2023.

Mumbai Indians

Former Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene, who served as the head coach of Mumbai Indians from 2017 to 2022, was elevated to global head of performance at the franchise. Zaheer Khan was also promoted from director of cricket operations to global head of cricket development.

Mark Boucher, who was the head coach of South Africa men's cricket team until the T20 World Cup in Australia last year, will replace Jayawardene in the head coach role for the five-time IPL champions.

Veteran Mumbai Indians player Kieron Pollard will take over as the batting coach after announcing retirement from IPL last year. Former Karnataka captain J Arunkumar will be the assistant batting coach of MI.

Former Netherlands all-rounder Ryan ten Doescathe, who represented the franchise in 29 IPL matches from 2011 to 2015, will join them as their fielding coach as James Foster was promoted to the role of assistant coach.
