The left-handed middle-order batsman from Punjab missed the first half of the tournament due to an ankle injury he sustained while playing in the World T20. The 34-year-old was a key member of the champions Sunrisers Hyderabad side.

In 10 matches this season, he accumulated 236 runs at an average of 26.22 and with a strike-rate of 131.84. The Punjab-born cricketer also played a valuable innings of 38 in the all-important final and contributed heavily with his athleticism in the field.
