The left-handed middle-order batsman led the Gujarat Lions quite well in this year’s IPL. The newly formed franchise did qualify for the playoff stages as the No.1 team on the points table but then lost consecutive matches and knocked out of the tournament.

The 29-year-old did not have a tournament for which he is known for but contributed well for his side. In 15 IPL matches this year, the southpaw scored 399 runs at an average of 28.50 and with a strike-rate of 127.88. As a captain, he did fairly well and managed his bowlers with a lot of confidence.
