Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are one of the 10 franchise teams competing in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Based in Hyderabad, Telangana, SRH came into existence in 2012 after the Deccan Chronicle group-owned Deccan Chargers were taken over by the Sun Group. They play their home matches at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, which has a capacity of over 55,000.

After making their IPL debut in 2013, SRH won their only IPL title in 2016 after defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the final. They have been one of the most competitive teams in the IPL, reaching the final thrice in 2016, 2018, and 2024. SRH are captained by Pat Cummins and coached by Daniel Vettori. While David Warner is the franchise team's all-time leading run-scorer, Bhuvneshwar Kumar is their top wicket-taker, as of March 2025.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are owned by the Sun Group. The Sun Group is a notable entity in the entertainment industry in southern parts of India. They own over 30 TV channels and seven publications and run 48 FM radio stations catering to over 100 million households, as per reports. Kalanithi Maran is the chairman and founder of the Chennai-based group.

Maran, who is the grand-nephew of former Tamil Nadu chief minister M. Karunanidhi, founded the Sun Group in 1992. He graduated from Loyola College in Chennai and did his MBA from University of Scranton in the United States. He then joined his family's publishing business in 1987 before starting Sun Group's flagship channel Sun TV in 1993. He is married to Kavery Kalanithi, who is the executive director of the Sun TV Network, and has a child named Kavya Maran, who is the chief executive of SRH.
