Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4 has arrived, and with it an over zealous bug infestation, that you’ll have to help quash. These vicious, relentless, swarming vermin are dug in deep on the island, and have become a major problem to reality itself. The ultimate goal will be to draw out the queen, but it won’t be easy. The goal will be to neutralize the infestation. The O.X.R have joined the fray to lend a helping hand to islanders, but they won’t be enough. You will have to do your part, to stem the tide of this bug hellfest.
Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4 introduces three new locations: The Hive, O.X.R. HQ, and Ranger’s Ruin. Starting with The Hive, it’s a POI that is swarming with bugs. If you plan on venturing out here, carry a lot of ammo, you’ll need it. O.X.R. HQ and Ranger’s Ruin were built by the defenders, and while the former is a stronghold, and serves as a command center, the latter has fallen to the bugs. However, if you want some good loot, there’s where you’ll need to go.
Speaking of bugs, there are three distinct types that you will encounter on the island: Swarmer, Bomber, and the Queen. The Swarmer is the most common critter you will encounter. Much like the Zerg, they will overwhelm you if you don’t eliminate them quickly. Next, is the Bomber, whose task is to guard the nests. If you venture too close to a nest, be sure to check your six as they like to pop up from behind and attack.
Lastly, we have the Queens. They burrow deep, and massive slugs, taller than most buildings, and will only surface after their nest has been destroyed. Much like a Hive Tyrant, they can summon more bugs and will slam their body into the ground to try and eliminate you. Be vigilant, and don’t become slug food.
To help you stay in the good fight, your O.X.R. Rank will increase as you fight the bugs. Each rank will ensure an O.X.R. Drop Pod packed full of loot will be sent to your location. These will contain Boons an Exotic weapons for you to use. Lastly, later on in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4 we’ll see the mighty Hammerhead Choppa flying across the island to lay down some suppressing fire.
Aside from the aforementioned content, Medallions, Power Rangers, and a whole trope of new things will be part of Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4 until it ends on November 1, 2025. There’s some freebies that you can claim to celebrate the bug infection, some of which can be obtained from Twitch. That said, it is time to go squash some bugs!
