The 2024 Mexico Open champion, Jake Knapp, was born on May 31, 1994. He attended the University of California, Irvine, after graduating from Estancia High School, where he eventually qualified as an amateur for the 2015 U.S. Open. He has an older brother, Ryan, who also played golf for Orange Coast College; they both are sons of Robert and Jennifer Knapp.

In the final round of the Mexico Open 2024, Knapp hit just two fairways, establishing a record as the first player on the PGA Tour to win with two or fewer fairways since 1983.

Jake Knapp’s Driver

One of the farthest hitters on the PGA Tour, Knapp, has been using the same Ping G425 LST for several years. He uses the Project X HZRDUS T1100TX shaft to power his way around the golf course and plays with his driver set at a 9-degree angle.

Now that the Ping G425 driver is three years old, it will be interesting to watch if and when he decides to switch to the Ping G430 LST, which is now regarded as one of the greatest golf drivers available.

Jake Knapp’s Mini Driver

Knapp is hitting the TaylorMade BRNR Mini Driver set at 13.5 degrees instead of a conventional fairway wood. For golfers who desire more control off the tee than a driver can provide without giving up too much distance, the tiny driver is a fantastic alternative.

Since its release, this driver-come-fairway wood crossover has gained some ground in the world of professional golf. Over the past year or so, players like Tommy Fleetwood, Phil Mickelson, Adam Scott, and Bryson Dechambeau have all used one in their events. In both his standard driver and his mini driver, Knapp employs the same T1100TX shaft.

Jake Knapp’s Irons

From the 4-iron to the pitching wedge, Jake Knapp uses PXG 0211 ST irons. These are triple-forged blade irons that provide a very soft feel when struck. In addition, Knapp carries a Srixon ZU85 2-iron to fill the gap between his mini-driver and longest iron.

Jake Knapp’s Wedges

In just nine starts, Knapp secured his debut victory on the PGA Tour with the help of a PXG 0311 Sugar Daddy II 52° wedge, a Titleist Vokey SM9 56° sand wedge, and a Titleist Vokey Wedgeworks 60° wedge.

Given how quickly most touring pros go through wedges, Titleist Vokey wedges are frequently regarded as the best in the industry. As a result, it wouldn't be unexpected to see Knapp switch to the new SM10 Vokey wedges soon.

Jake Knapp’s Putter

At the moment, Jake Knapp uses a SuperStroke Zenergy 2.0 pistol grip with a TaylorMade Spider Tour double bend. Since its launch, the Spider putter line has been incredibly well-liked on tour, with players like Dustin Johnson, Jason Day, and Rory McIlroy using them.

Jake Knapp’s Golf Ball

Jake Knapp plays with a Titleist Pro V1 Left Dot golf ball, which is presently a Titleist tour ball that has been available in limited supply in the US. For players with explosive speed like Knapp, this ball offers a lower ball flight and reduced long-game spin, emulating the feel of a standard Titleist Pro V1.

The Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x are among the best golf balls available and account for a sizable portion of the market for balls used in professional golf.
