Are you unsatisfied with playing Nintendo’s brand of Pokemon? Do you wish that there was a different medium for which you could catch these pocket monsters and use them to compete with certain friends and enemies? Are you seeking a new world for which you can immerse yourself within a pokemon-like universe? If so then you’re in luck. With the help of heavy modifications and a helpful community, Pixelmon is the mod for you to play Pokemon through Minecraft.
Pixelmon aims to recreate the world and system of Pokemon through Minecraft by implementing many features that have been seen through one of Nintendo’s most popular series.
In this famous mod, you will find yourself in a world where there are around 510 pokemon for you to catch and train at your leisure, whilst using a pokedex, pokeballs to catch pokemon, along with many other features that bring this idea to life. The mod even goes out of it’s way to make amazing graphical changes to feature the pokemon themselves in their most natural state if they were to look like 3D versions of themselves, showing the immaculate amount of detail that went into the modding process. Before you can even think of enjoying this mod, you will first need to know how to implement it in the first place.
How To Install
Firstly, you will need to go to the mod’s personal website which can be found here:
» Pixelmon Mod 1.12.2/1.10.2 (Pokemon in Minecraft) (9minecraft.net)
Once you’ve arrived and acquainted yourself with the multitude of features, press the green start button where you will find the main download page.
There is however a much more streamlined alternative whilst using Minecraft’s main mod manager: Forge. If you already have Forge and would prefer to use that, then go to this link instead to download Pixelmon through there: Pixelmon Reforged
Once you have downloaded the mod and saved it to your desktop, you are going to go to your Forge menu and access the “New” section to find the newest version of Forge to then name and create before closing the launcher. Then go to your minecraft folder in your data section to access your mod folder which you will drag your Pixelmon mod into. Go back to the launcher for Forge to get the newest version of the game you created a few moments ago and then launch the game. From there you should have access to the Pixelmon mod you just installed, which should be ready for you to now enjoy.
There will be no shortage of activities for you to enjoy when playing this mod, but there may be those who wish to have answers to difficult questions within the world they find themselves in.
- One example is shopkeepers. There are a multitude of shopkeepers in Pixelmon, much like how there are shopkeepers in the actual pokemon games. If you wish to change what they look like or what they sell along with other features, you will need to use an NPC editor. This however can only change so much, and if you wish to change what can be traded with the shopkeeper itself you will have to change external JSON files.
- For those wanting to only play with certain types or generations of pokemon, you can change this by accessing the spawning section of Pixelmon’s config file on its folder which will allow you to change which generation of pokemon will spawn within your game. You can even control where certain pokemon will spawn by going to the location config file that is also contained within the mod’s folder.
- You even have access to actions such as using Mega Evolution on your pokemon outside of battle to see what they will look like by cycling their external moves within the game.
Pixelmon is without a doubt one of the most fun and creative Minecraft mods made today, and it would be a shame to not take advantage of the unique forms of gameplay that exist within it. Enjoy this fantastic mod and the work that went in it, and don’t be shy about enjoying it with your fellow friends.
