He began his MMA career in October 2011 with Rock The Cage promotion, amassing an 8-1 record before his UFC debut. Rakic made his UFC debut on September 2, 2017, defeating Francimar Barroso. Throughout his career, he had notable wins against opponents like Jimi Manuwa and Anthony Smith. However, he suffered a setback with a split decision loss to Volkan Oezdemir in December 2019.

Despite signing a new six-fight contract with the UFC in February 2020, he faced another setback when he tore his anterior cruciate ligament three weeks before a scheduled fight against Jan Błachowicz in May 2022. After a lengthy layoff, he was set to return in January 2024 against Błachowicz, but the latter withdrew due to shoulder surgery. Moreover, he maintains a record of 14 wins and 4 losses (14-4-0) and will look forward to facing Magomed Ankalaev in his next bout.
