Karen Alexa Grasso Montes, a Mexican professional mixed martial artist who competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship's (UFC) women's flyweight division, is the current UFC Women's Flyweight Champion.
Grasso also works as an analyst for "UFC Espanol," a Spanish-language show. She currently holds the women's pound-for-pound championship and is ranked first in the UFC women's pound-for-pound rankings as of September 2023.
Grasso made her professional MMA debut in her home nation of Mexico in December 2012. In her first 18 months, she went undefeated, winning five fights (three by TKO and two by decision).
According to a press release, Grasso joined the UFC in August 2016. She defeated Heather Jo Clark in the Dos Anjos vs. Ferguson main event of "The Ultimate Fighter Latin America 3" in November 2016 in Mexico City by unanimous decision.
In March 2022, at UFC on ESPN 33, Joanne Wood defeated Grasso in a rescheduled bout by rear-naked choke submission.
Grasso fought Valentina Shevchenko for the women's flyweight championship at UFC 285 in Las Vegas. Even though Grasso was a massive underdog, she used a face crank in the fourth round to win the bout and title.
As a consequence, she became the first Mexican woman to win the UFC championship. Grasso earned her first Performance of the Night bonus with the triumph.
