Floyd Mayweather Jr. was born on February 24, 1977, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and is often regarded as one of the greatest boxers of all time. Having come from a boxing family with his father and uncle, he was exposed to the sport early on in life. He did well in his amateur career, winning the national Golden Gloves titles in 1993, 1994, and 1996. This was followed by a bronze medal in the featherweight division at the Atlanta Olympics in 1996.
