As of February 2025, Jared Cannonier is the No.7 ranked middleweight contender in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. With more than a decade of expertise in the sport, Cannonier currently boasts a record of 17 wins and 8 losses (17-8-0) in mixed martial arts. And over the years, Cannonier has squared off against some of the most prominent names in the promotion like the former middleweight champions, Anderson Silva, Israel Adesanya, Robert Whittaker, Sean Strickland, Kelvin Gastelum, Marvin Vettori, etc. Before signing up for the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Jared Cannonier was a former Alaska FC(AFC) heavyweight champion in 2014. And he made his octagon debut with an undefeated record of 7 wins at UFC 182 against Shawn Jordan. However, Cannonier lost the heavyweight bout to Jordan via a first-round knockout. The bout took place on January 3, 2015, in Las Vegas, United States.

Later in 2016, Cannonier faced Ion Cutelaba at TUF on December 3, 2016, and won the bout via a unanimous decision. Moreover, the bout was his light heavyweight debut, and also won the ‘Fight of the Night’ debut for his performance showcase. However, two years later, Jared Cannonier made his middleweight debut on November 3, 2018, against David Branch and won the bout via a second-round TKO. The fight took place at UFC 230 and Cannonier also earned a ‘Performance of the Night’ bonus. And within four years and five fights, the American fighter finally got his shot at the middleweight championship against the former champion, Israel Adesanya. However, Cannonier lost to Adesanya via a unanimous decision at UFC 276 on July 2, 2022. Cannonier's last fight was a defeat against Caio Borralho on August 24, 2024.
