UFC 287: Meerschaert(R) v Pyfer(L)

Fighting out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States, Joe Pyfer is a well-rounded fighter himself. The 27-year-old mixed martial artist competes in the middleweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Before signing up for the UFC, Joe Pyfer was a former Ring of Combat and Art of War Cage Fighting middleweight champion.

Like most UFC fighters, Joe Pyfer earned his UFC contract by winning Dana White’s contender Serier[DWCS]. However, he could not get the job done for the first time at Dana Whites Contender Series 28 in 2020, as he got TKO’d by his opponent Dustin Stolzfusin in the first round. And Joe Pyfer being a phenomenal athlete and committed fighter, tried his shot at Dana White’s Contender Series 47, two years later in 2022. This time he faced Osman Diaz and had a second-round TKO against Diaz within 1 minute and 39 seconds into the second round, earning himself a UFC contract.

For his promotional debut, ‘Bodybagz’ faced the Macedonian fighter, Alen Amedovski on September 17, 2022, in Las Vegas, United States. The fight was featured in the main card of UFC Fight Night: Sandhagen vs. Song and Pyfer stopped Amedovski within 3 minutes and 55 seconds into the first round via TKO(punches). He also won a ‘Performance of the Night’ bonus for his showcase.

Joe Pyfer was on a five-fight win streak after losing to Dustin Stolzfusin at DWCS. However, he lost his win streak when he went up against the current No.9 ranked middleweight contender Jack Hermansson on February 10, 2024, at UFC Fight Night: Hermansson vs. Pyfer. The bout lasted for five rounds and Hermansson was decided the winner unanimously over Pyfer by the judges scorecard.

Nevertheless, Joe Pyfer has proven himself to be a top contender who bounces back from his losses rather than stay in the pit. Hence, Pyfer is gearing up for his next fight at UFC 303: Pereira vs. Prochazka 2 and he will be facing Marc-Andre Barriault in the prelims of the event. The bout will take place on June 29, 2024, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Hence, fans are eagerly waiting for Joe’Bodybagz Pyfer for his showdown.

Joe Pyfer’s UFC record

Joe Pyfer currently boasts a record of 3 wins and 1 loss in the Ultimate Fighting Championship so far. However, this is not his complete professional record, but the promotional one. In his professional career, Joe Pyfer currently maintains a record of 12 wins and 3 losses. The majority of his wins are via knockout(8), submission(3), and decision(1), respectively. Moreover, he also holds 6 first-round finishes to his name, which makes the fight resume more interesting.

Joe Pyfer’s early life

Joe Pyfer has had a tough time growing up. With an abusive father, Pyfer and his siblings had one of the darkest upbringings. During his podcast appearance in the Joe Rogan Experience, Joe Pyfer talked about the hard time with his family and the situations and surroundings that he had to overcome which in turn led him to run away from his dad when he was only 16.

Even though Pyfer does not have that close connection with his mom, he mentioned that she was a hard worker. Also, she provided for the whole family despite his father being an addict, she had to work two jobs to provide. He also mentioned that he got his work ethic from his mother.
