Jose Aldo is an experienced professional mixed martial artist who has been active in professional MMA since 2004. After starting as a professional, Aldo initially competed in various fight promotions. He stormed his way into the UFC on April 30, 2011, in a fight against Mark Hominick at UFC 129. Aldo won the fight and defended his UFC featherweight title. The longtime former titleholder switched to the bantamweight division after dropping his belt to Max Holloway at UFC 218.

Aldo's upcoming opponent, Aiemann Zahabi, is also a prominent professional mixed martial artist from Canada who is currently signed with the UFC. He made his professional MMA debut on November 30, 2012, against Kyle Vivian. He defeated Vivian by a first-round TKO and took off with a dominant win. Zahabi eventually joined the UFC in 2017 and is currently ranked as the No. 14-ranked bantamweight fighter in the promotion. He will lock horns with Aldo in a bantamweight showdown on the main card of UFC 315 in his upcoming fight.
