Jose Aldo, a former two-time featherweight champion with seven defenses, was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2023. He retired from MMA in 2022, with one fight left in his contract and was also allowed by the UFC to explore boxing, which he did in 2023.

Aldo grew up in Manaus, Brazil, and trained in Capoeira, an afro-brazilian martial art, to defend himself. He made his MMA debut at 17 years old, winning the opening round against Mario Bigola in 16 seconds at EcoFight 2004.

In 2009, Aldo won his first featherweight title at WEC 44, defeating Mike Brown in the second round via knockout. In October 2010, the WEC and UFC merged, transferring all of their fighters to the UFC, where Aldo won the inaugural UFC featherweight title belt. By then, he had already defended his WEC featherweight title three times.

Aldo had the longest winning streak in the division from 2005 to 2015, with 18 victories in a row, which included seven featherweight title defenses. However, he lost his belt at UFC 194 to Notorious Conor McGregor, snapping his winning streak in just 13 seconds.

He won six and lost six of the next twelve fights, with his most recent match taking place at UFC 278 in August 2022. After retirement, he'll be making his UFC comeback in UFC 301 against Jonthan Martiniez, utilizing the one UFC fight left. He was offered a new contract but he declined.
