Conor McGregor, also known as The Notorious or the Mystic Mac, is an Irish professional mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter and a recently turned boxer. Currently the biggest name in mixed martial arts industry, his pay-per-view draws are the most grossing in the history of MMA. A former featherweight and lightweight champion in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), four of the top six most grossing UFC pay-per-view events are to his name.
A flamboyant and influential figure, he again made the headlines this week after his shock one-sided defeat against Khabib Nurmagomedov in the fourth round of UFC 229 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Despite losing to the Russian mixed martial artist of Avar ethnicity, also known as “The Eagle”, Mcgregor will end up making a lot of money off the event. Having reached to the status where his income is based solely on his appearance rather than his performance, the Irishman received a cool $3 million straight payout just for making his headline appearance at Las Vegas. However, that is only the icing as he will receive his major payout from the event after the number of pay-per-view buys are confirmed. With well over two million views confirmed by the UFC president Dana White, Mcgregor will make a handsome turnout which will be just shy of the $50 million mark.
His biggest coup till date, however is outside of the MMA circle, was the boxing bout between him and Floyd Mayweather Jr. His $100 million payout from the mega-event of 2017 dwarves the amount he is going to receive from the UFC 229 PPV event.
Net Worth in 2018
McGregor’s net worth is estimated to be around $99 million by Forbes as of 7/16/18, while it can be confirmed that various sources list him between the $85 and $100 million mark, before his fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov. In the prime years of his career, he is expected to make the most within a span of five years from now. He himself confirmed his ambitions as he was quoted saying “I’m 30 now, say by 35 I’ll be a billionaire.”
With such an incredible return to UFC after his hiatus, he is expected to build on the momentum. Talks have been going around that he might switch to welterweight in order to become the first champion to have won the UFC title in all three weight classes and create history.
While $85 million of his net worth comes from his salary winnings, Mcgregor also made an enviable $14 million from endorsements. A true marketing goldmine, he has bumper deals signed with Burger King, Beats by Dre, Monster energy drink and sportswear giant Reebok.
Known for living quite the lavish life, he makes a lot of money and he spends a lot of money. He has entire fleet of luxury cars featuring the Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe, BMW i8, Rolls-Royce Ghost, Lamborghini Aventador Roadster, Cadillac Escalade etc. However, his cherry on the top is a limited edition Lamborghini Huracan Avio which is one of his most prized possessions.
He owns multiple mansions, with a Las Vegas mansion recently going for sale in the market for a price of $2,995,000. When he goes back to his hometown in Ireland he buys his own plush pads and doesn’t stay at the family home. He is however a loving son, as he paid off the mortgage for their family home and spoils his family members by gifting them luxury cars.
McGregor also released his own whiskey brand named Proper Twelve, which has been doing outstandingly well in sales and is going to make him millions.
