Hailing from Avenal, California, Jose Carlos Ramirez was born on August 12, 1992, and is a professional light welterweight boxer. Standing at five feet, 10 inches with a 72.5-inch reach, he fights in an orthodox stance and is known for his relentless pressure and body-punching mastery. A former unified WBC and WBO light welterweight champion, Ramirez first captured the WBC title in 2018 by defeating Amir Imam, and added the WBO belt in 2019 with a sixth-round TKO over Maurice Hooker. He successfully defended both titles until May 2021, when he suffered his first professional loss to Josh Taylor in a unification bout for the undisputed championship.
