Michel "Demolidor" Pereira has been a middleweight fighter at the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Though he started his professional career in 2011 and competed in local promotions, it took him almost eight years to get a contract with the UFC in 2019. He won the Serbian Battle Championship (SBC) Welterweight title in December 2017, defeating Luka Strezoski via decision, and defended it in April 2018.

He was born on October 6, 1993 and by the age of 16 in 2009, he was trained in Karate and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, earning a black belt in both. In May 2019, Pereira made his UFC debut against Danny Roberts at UFC Fight Night 152. Pereira won the fight via knockout early in the first round by using unorthodox reaching techniques, including a superman punch and an attempted showtime kick.

He has a professional record of 29-11 and two no contests. Since joining the UFC, he has had 8 wins and two losses, with his most recent bout in March 2024 at UFC 299, defeating Michal Olekseijczuk with a rear-naked choke in the first round. Pereira was scheduled to fight Makhumud Muradov at UFC 301 in May 2024, but Muradov withdrew due to an infection and was replaced by Ihor Potieria.

Michel Pereira Ethnicity

Unfortunately, there’s no clear information available about the ethnicity of Michel Pereira.

He was born in Tucuma, Para, Brazil, making him of Brazilian nationality; however, there are numerous indigenous groups like Kayapó, Xikrin, and Parakanã, as well as individuals of mixed Indigenous, European, African, and/or Asian ancestry in Brazil, thus making it hard to pin-point Pereira's ethnicity.

What division is Michel Pereira in?

As of May 2024, Michel Pereira fights in the middleweight division (171–185 lbs.) of the UFC. He was earlier in the welterweight division (156–170 lbs) and even won a championship at SBC in the same.

After his victory over Santiago Ponzinibbio in mid-2022, Pereira had fights postponed or cancelled "five times," which caused his weight to spiral out of control, he told MMA Fighting's Trocação Franca podcast.

According to Pereira, over his extended period without losing weight, he ended up "gaining mass and getting stronger," and as the Thompson fight kicked off during UFC 291 fight week, Pereira's weight just wouldn't drop as it usually would. He made his middleweight debut in UFC Fight Night: Yusuff vs. Barboza in October 2023.
