Oscar De La Hoya is a celebrated American boxing promoter and a former professional boxer. He is an accomplished boxer who competed in multiple weight classes, winning various championships in the process. He also spent time in the amateur circuit before taking up professional boxing.

Oscar De La Hoya made his professional boxing debut on November 23, 1992, against Lamar Williams in a six-round fight. He defeated Williams by a first-round knockout and kicked off his professional career with a dominant win. After establishing a dominant winning streak of 11 consecutive fights, La Hoya got a shot at the WBO junior lightweight title on March 5, 1994, against Jimmi Bredahl in a 12-round bout. He won the fight by RTD in the tenth round of the fight and won the title.

He won multiple championships as he kept climbing the ladders of success in professional boxing. He brought down curtains to his career with a record of 39 wins and 6 losses. La Hoya secured 30 victories by knockout and 9 by decision. Similarly, 2 of his losses came by knockout and 4 by decision.

Oscar De La Hoya was speculated to come out of retirement multiple times in 2009 and 2021 against Julio Cesar Chavez Gennady Glovkin, and Vitor Belfort. However, in September 2021, he withdrew from his proposed fight against Belfort after contracting Covid-19 and was admitted to a hospital for medical care.
