Usman Magomednabiyevich Nurmagomedov was born on 17 April 1998, in Kizilyurt, Dagestan, Russia. He is a professional mixed martial artist with a perfect record competing in the lightweight division (155 lbs). Usman, renowned for his diverse skills inside the octagon, stands 5'11" tall and has a reach of 72 inches. Training under the mentorship of his late uncle, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, and then with Javier Mendez at the American Kickboxing Academy, Usman began his professional MMA career in 2017.

In 2021, he signed with Bellator MMA and started on his winning path by defeating formidable competitors such as Mike Hamel, Luis Muro, and Patrik Pietila. Usman's biggest win took place on November 18, 2022, at Bellator 288, where he faced Patricky 'Pitbull' Freire for the Bellator Lightweight World Championship. He delivered a dominant performance, winning via a unanimous decision and becoming the first Dagestani native to hold a Bellator title. Usman is now scheduled to defend his title against Irish contender Paul Hughes on January 25, 2025, at the PFL Champions Series 1.
