Claressa Shields is scheduled to return inside the squared circle on July 27, 2024, to challenge Vanessa Lepage Joanisse for the heavyweight championship. Besides Joanisse’s heavyweight strap, the WBO light heavyweight championship, the WBF heavyweight title, and the WBO light heavyweight championship will also be up for grabs.

Vanessa Lepage Joanisse entered the squared circle as a professional for the first time on March 19, 2016, against Annie Mazerolle. After a hard-fought battle, Joanisse won a split decision victory and started her career on a winning note. After winning her first three fights, Joanisse got an opportunity to challenge Alejandra Jimenez for the WBC female heavyweight championship on August 12, 2017.

Vanessa Lepage Joanisse couldn’t capitalize on the opportunity and ended up losing the ten-round fight by a TKO in the third round. She bounced back and compiled a three-fight winning streak before getting another title opportunity for the vacant WBC female heavyweight strap against Abril Argentina Vidal. She won the fight by a split decision and became the new WBC female heavyweight champion.

Vanessa Lepage Joanisse’s upcoming challenger, Claressa Shields has done multiple hats. She competed as a professional mixed martial artist in PFL and holds a record of two wins and one loss. Her professional boxing career is clinical and she has not lost a fight as of July 27, 2024. She made her professional boxing debut in 2019 and ever since has held multiple accolades. Shields held multiple titles in multiple weight classes.

If Shields is able to seize a victory against Joanisse on July 27, 2024, she will create history by becoming the first woman to reign as the four and five-division champion in women’s professional boxing.
