He squared off against Nicolas Dalby in his showdown at UFC 283, on January 21, 2023, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Alves and Dalby fought in a closely contested fight for three rounds and it was decided on the Judge’s scorecard. Nicolas Dalby was declared the winner by a split decision.
