Michelle Eileen Waterson-Gomez is of European and Thai descent as her father is an American and her mother is a Thai. She is an American national who competes in the strawweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). She was born in Colorado Springs on January 6, 1986, and was brought up in Aurora. Michelle Waterson took up modeling after finishing High School in 2004 and pursued her higher education at the University of Denver before taking up combat sports professionally.

Michelle Waterson made her MMA debut at Ring of Fire 28: Evolution against Andrea Miller and won the bout via unanimous decision. She competed in various promotions before signing with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). She made her debut in the promotion against Angela Magana on July 12, 2015, at the Ultimate Fighter 21 Finale and emerged victorious via submission. In her last three showdowns, Waterson was defeated by Marina Rodriguez, Amanda Lemos, and Luana Pinheiro at UFC Fight Night: Rodriguez vs. Waterson, UFC Fight Night: Ortega vs. Rodriguez, and UFC 287 respectively, and is on a three-fight losing streak.

Her last victory was against Angela Hill when she defeated her via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night: Waterson vs. Hill. She is scheduled to lock horns with Marina Rodriguez at UFC Fight Night: Fiziev vs. Gamrot on September 24, 2023.
