Yanez began his MMA training when he was 15 years old and had his first fight at the age of 17. Prior to joining the UFC, he was employed by the City of Deer Park as a Meter Reader. Throughout his MMA career, he received training from the late Saul Soliz in Houston, Texas.

Adrian Yanez’s Career Before the UFC

Yanez had a successful amateur career with six wins, including four consecutive TKOs. He made his professional debut at the age of 20 and won by TKO in the third round. However, he suffered his first loss in his next bout against Levi Mowles due to wrestling and ground and pound.

Yanez bounced back with two wins in Fury FC and won his Bellator debut against Ryan Hollis via unanimous decision. He then lost a close split decision to Domingo Pilarte at LFA 7, but won his next two fights in the promotion. Yanez fought Miles Johns for the vacant LFA Bantamweight Championship at LFA 55, but lost via a split decision.

He then won his next three fights, including a victory against Brady Huang in just 39 seconds at Dana White's Contender Series 28, which earned him a contract with the UFC
