Kelvin Gastelum is a famed professional mixed martial artist who competes in the leading professional mixed martial arts promotion, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He was interested in athleticism and combat sports from a very young age. Gastelum was immersed in wrestling during his early days as a young athlete. He eventually decided to shift to mixed martial arts and create a professional career in the combat sports discipline as a professional.

Kelvin Gastelum raked up five consecutive victories after making his professional mixed martial arts debut in 2010. He then competed in the Ultimate Fighter in 2013 and won the tournament in its middleweight category by defeating Uriah Hall by a split decision and became the youngest winner of the show at the age of 21 which earned him a UFC contract.

After making his entry into the UFC, Kelvin Gastelum got a chance at the UFC’s interim middleweight title against Israel Adesanya at UFC 236 on April 13, 2019. Adesanya defeated him by a unanimous decision in the bout. Gastelum has shifted through the weight divisions, in his most recent fight against Sean Brady he returned to the welterweight division at UFC on ESPN: Dariush vs. Tsarukyan.

For his upcoming fight, Kelvin Gastelum struggled to cut his weight to make it into the welterweight limit against Daniel Rodriguez which was scheduled to be held as a welterweight bout at UFC on ABC: Whittaker vs. Aliskerov on June 22, 2024, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The fight has been changed to a middleweight fight considering Gastelum’s inability to make the cut to welterweight.
