As an amateur, he recorded three straight victories against Gary Sivills, Paul Bradshaw, and Jett Metcaffe by first-round finishes. Craig made his professional mixed martial arts debut as a light heavyweight competitor on August 24, 2013, at the First Fighting Championship: Prepare for Glory 3 against Brad Conway. He dispatched Conway in the inaugural round by making him submit with the help of a triangle choke.
