Ash-Shakur Nafi-Shahid Stevenson, also known as Shakur Stevenson is a professional boxer hailing from Newark, New Jersey. The southpaw pugilist was born on June 28, 1997, and is currently 27 years old. A master of defensive boxing, Stevenson maintains an unblemished professional boxing record of 22 wins with 10 knockouts. The Newark native is one of the rare boxers to attain championships in three weight classes and he currently holds the WBC World Lightweight strap.

Stevenson’s amateur career was equally successful with the pinnacle being him winning the silver medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics. He began his professional career in 2017 under Top Rank and managed by Andre Ward. He swiftly ascended through the ranks, showcasing his top-tier fighting style in victories over opponents like Carlos Suarez and Joet Gonzalez. Stevenson unified titles in the super featherweight division, then moved up to lightweight. His notable victories include a dominant performance against Jamel Herring and unifying titles against Oscar Valdez. Despite a controversial fight with Robson Conceicao, Stevenson became WBC lightweight champion in 2023. The undefeated boxer’s next outing is scheduled against Floyd Schofield in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on February 22, 2025.

Shakur Stevenson Father

Shakur Stevenson's biological father is Alfredo Rivera. Despite being estranged for most of his childhood, Rivera made a concerted effort to reconnect with his son in the years leading up to his untimely passing in 2019. Stevenson, reflecting on his father's death, expressed a mix of emotions - regret for not allowing Rivera to be more present in his life, and gratitude for his father's attempts to mend their relationship, which were ultimately hindered by Stevenson's own anger.

However, it was his stepfather, Shahid Guyton, who stepped in to provide the stability and support that Stevenson so desperately needed during his formative years. Guyton's involvement in Shakur's early boxing training was instrumental in shaping his career.

Shakur Stevenson Mother

Shakur Stevenson's mother, Malikah Stevenson, was a driving force in his early life. She instilled in him a sense of purpose and passion, naming him after the legendary West Coast rapper Tupac Shakur, whose poetic lyrics and impact on society deeply resonated with her.

Alongside his grandfather, Wali Moses, Malikah played a vital role in nurturing Shakur's talent and dedication to the sport.
