Josh Taylor is one of the most well-known Scottish boxers of the modern generation. Notable for his nickname, “The Tartan Tornado”, this 33-year old super light division boxer has managed to efficiently finished off his opponents in the ring. Hailing from Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom, Josh Taylor has a background in taekwondo and became a junior taekwondo champion. Then, he decided to pursue a career in boxing at the age of 15 years.

Taylor made his professional debut as a boxer on July 18, 2015 against Weah Archibald at Don Haskins Center, El Paso, Texas, United States. He started his boxing career by defeating his first opponent via TKO 1 minute and 53 seconds into the second round. He has since then held the Commonwealth Boxing Council Super Light, WBC Silver Super Light, IBF World Super Light, WBA Super World Super Light, WBC Diamond Super Light, WBC World Super Light and WBO World Super Light titles in his career.

The Tartan Tornado has achieved a boxing win-loss record of 19-1 out of 20 bouts as of May 2024. He ranks #1 out of 118 boxers in the United Kingdom and #13 out of 2,193 boxers internationally as of May 2024. He is geared up to face Jack Catterall in a rematch on May 25, 2024 at First Direct Arena, Leeds, West Yorkshire, England.

Unfortunately, Josh Taylor has only been bested by Teofimo Lopez. He lost the fight via unanimous decision in the 12th round on June 10, 2023. Consequently, he lost the WBO World Super Light title in the bout.
