Appearance

Ducklett is based on a duckling and is predominantly blue in colour and the upper body of this Pokemon is a lighter blue while the lower body is of a darker shade. On top of its head is a heart shaped feather sticking out. It has long oval eyes and a huge yellow beak which resembles that of a cartoon duck. Its wings are weak and small, strong enough to fly but not for long. The lower body is covered with fluffy dark blue feathers and webbed duck-like feet stick out of it.

Behavior

Ducklett are simple Pokemon and they swim around while eating peat moss, which is their favourite food. They prefer swimming over flying and even enjoy diving in water. If under attack, it will splash water at the attacker and escape using it as a cover.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Ducklett is a Water/Flying type and because of this, it has an overwhelming weakness to Electric types and thus takes four times the normal damage. It is also weak to Rock types but is resistant to Fighting, Bug, Steel, Fire and Water types. It is also immune to Ground type moves.

Best moveset

While being overshadowed by better options, Ducklett is still a pretty strong Pokemon on its own in LC. It has good defensive abilities but lacks in speed. The double weakness to electric types is also a downside. With Defog, this Pokemon can clear arena effects. Additionally, this move also reduces evasion of the opponent as well. This has perfect synergy with Hurricane as this move, while having high damage, suffers from low accuracy. Defog solves this problem by reducing the opponent’s evasion. Roost can be used after taking significant damage and increases the survivability of this Pokemon. Scald can be a strong STAB move if the opponent is resistant to flying types. It could also burn the enemy which not only does DoT, but also halves their Physical Attack damage.

How to catch Ducklett in Pokemon Go?

Ducklett can be found near large water bodies like rivers, lakes, ponds, etc and can also be hatched using 5 KM eggs. This Pokemon can be evolved into a Swanna using 50 candies. It appeared as a Tier 1 raid boss on October 9 of 2020, March 1st, March 6th, April 19th, April 26th and April 29th of 2021. Swanna has never appeared as a raid boss.

Trivia

  1. Despite having wings, Ducklett prefers to swim. This is because they are not great flyers.
  2. Although Ducklett is based on a duckling, its evolution is based on a swan. This is a direct reference to the fairytale ‘The Ugly Duckling’.

FAQs

Ducklett evolves starting at lvl 35.

The easiest way to counter ducklett is by using electric type moves since it has a 4x weakness to it.

Where is Ducklett in Pokemon White 2?

Ducklett can be found at Driftveil Drawbridge. It will be a shadow on the bridge. You can encounter this Pokemon by running into the shadow.

Conclusion

Ducklett is truly a Pokemon in a Fairytale due to its evolution being so magnificent. Although the duckling in the ‘ugly duckling’ is called ugly, Ducklett is not ugly at all. It transitions from cute to beautiful. Competitively, this Pokemon is strong enough in LC. With moves like Defog and Roost, this Pokemon can remove debuffs from the field and then heal itself. Using Defog also increases the chance of Hurricane hitting, making it an all-rounder.
