The Roberto Clemente Award is one of the most important awards in Major League Baseball (MLB). This award is generally presented to baseball players who are notable for their sportsmanship, contributions to the community, contributions to their teammates, and baseball performances. The baseball player is generally chosen by the fans in the form of voting. This award was originally named the Commissioner’s Award. However, it was renamed the Roberto Clemente Award in 1973 after the death of MLB Hall of Famer Roberto Clemente during a plane crash while he was delivering supplies to Nicaragua to help the people there following an earthquake.

The Roberto Clemente Award has been presented to one baseball player in the league since 1971 with Willie Mays being the first recipient of the Award. Almost all the teams have been successful in earning the Roberto Clemente Award for themselves each season. Notably, the St. Louis Cardinals have seen the most recipients of this award so far in their career. On the other hand, teams like the Washington Nationals, the Colorado Rockies, the Miami Marlins, the Los Angeles Angels, the Toronto Blue Jays, and the Texas Rangers are yet to see their players win the Roberto Clemente Award in MLB.
