Chet Holmgren is one of the most talented young NBA players. Unfortunately, basketball fans still haven't had a chance to watch him play in the professional league as he was shut down for the entire 2022-23 season.

Holmgren was the second pick in the 2022 NBA draft, but he's only appeared in a couple of Summer League games. Despite this, the OKC Thunder have done surprisingly well and have a great shot at making the playoffs.

Holmgren has had two procedures since entering the NBA and it appears that he will be ready to play in the 2023-24 season.

Chet Holmgren should be ready to play next season

The 20-year-old center suffered a foot injury during the Seattle Pro-Am game in August 2022. Due to this, the Thunder decided to shut him down for the entire season and give him enough time to recover.

Holmgren had his first procedure just a few days after suffering the injury. He also went under the knife in December and appears to have gotten better since then. While the 7-footer won't return this season, he will likely return at the start of the next one.

Chet Holmgren has been seen practicing basketball and completing various drills. On March 7, the Thunder center was recorded dunking the ball. While this is not impressive for a player of his size, it is a good indicator of his health and recovery.

Holmgren recently shared his thoughts regarding the injury. The 20-year-old big man didn't think that he suffered a serious injury at first. He thought that the air bubble in his shoe popped, but he soon realized that it could be something big.

Fortunately for the Thunder, Holmgren's injury recovery is going great, which is why we expect him to be active next season.

Holmgren's stats in the NBA Summer League

Chet Holmgren was exceptional in his first NBA Summer League game. He scored 23 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out four assists. The big man also set the record for the most blocks in a Summer League game with six.

The OKC Thunder star was also very efficient, going 7-for-9 from the field. He averaged 17.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 4.0 blocks in Salt Lake City.

The 7-foot big man was the second overall pick for good reason. However, basketball fans will have to wait at least half a year to watch him play professional basketball.
