Jimmy Kimmel compares Donald Trump's 2024 presidential campaign to Michael Jordan playing for Washington Wizards

Michael Jordan played the final two years of his NBA career with the Washington Wizards. With former United States president Donald Trump planning to run for office again, Jimmy Kimmel compared his 2024 campaign to MJ's time with the Wizards.

On Monday's episode of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" on ABC, Kimmel discussed Trump's 2024 presidential campaign in his opening monologue. The TV host poked fun at the former president, who ranted about windmills during his appearances at New Hampshire and South Carolina over the weekend.

“We make a lot of fun of Donald Trump because he's a fool," Kimmel said. "He knows what your average Joe cares about, and what Americans want most from our leaders right now, is for somebody to do something about this accursed windmills. … He is literally Donald Quixote. It's not even a metaphor anymore. He’s battling windmills."

Kimmel also mocked Donald Trump for his efforts to become president again. He took a shot at Trump for criticizing Florida governor Ron DeSantis, as well as talking about the Taliban in Afghanistan.

The host-comedian went on to compare Trump's efforts to the 'sad' two years of Michael Jordan playing for the Washington Wizards.

"I have to say, watching him out there campaigning again, it's kind of sad," Kimmel said. "It's the political equivalent of when Michael Jordan played for the Wizards. Trump's out there making speeches and now, even running ads."

Michael Jordan's time with the Wizards was not a complete disaster, but it was not successful. Jordan wasn't able to help the team make the playoffs in the two seasons. He averaged 21.2 points, 5.9 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.5 steals in Washington before retiring for the final time in 2003.

Donald Trump likes Michael Jordan over LeBron James

Donald Trump is a fan of Michael Jordan, weighing in on the G.O.A.T. debate in a keynote address at the America First Policy Institute Summit last year. Trump bragged about being good enough to become the greatest coach in women's basketball history.

Trump then took a shot at LeBron James, who has been critical of the former president during his tenure.

"I'd be the greatest women's basketball coach in history," Trump said. "I don't like LeBron James. I like Michael Jordan much better. But I'd go up to LeBron James and say, 'LeBron, did you ever have any desire to be a woman? Because what I'd love you to do is star on my team."
