Steph Curry reveals his all-time starting five: “You got Jordan…The big man, the Diesel, holding it down”

Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors is making the rounds on social media once more after he revealed his all-time starting five. Unlike some of the all-time starting fives of other players, Curry's selection of players is focused more on functionality rather than achievements.

Curry is back at it again with a new video with Sports Illustrated. After he was named Sportsperson of the Year by the magazine, the All-Star guard produced some of the best content this month. One of the things he shared with SI was the selection of his all-time starting five:

"Oh, so, I'm on the team," Curry said. "So, there's a dream four. I'm at PG. I'm going with Magic (Johnson). We'll play hybrid guards. You got (Michael) Jordan. You got Dirk (Nowitzki) spacing the floor, shooting the ball. And you got the big man, the Diesel (Shaquille O'Neal) holding it down. So, that's a solid lineup, I think."

Curry's list is interesting and uniquely his, as he has combined past players and taken into consideration the way the game is played today. One flaw in his lineup, however, is the lack of shooters to aid him on the court. Good thing he selected Nowitzki, an all-time stretch big.

He didn't add Kobe Bryant or LeBron James. He could get some wild reactions for doing so, but Curry looks set to go with his selection.

Steph Curry's all-time lineup is interesting as it isn't overwhelmed with accomplishments. Don't get it wrong, his picks are as decorated as other all-time starting fives. Let's dive in to see how well his pick will do.

Guards

Steph Curry hasn't been a traditional point guard ever since he started his career. While he does have good vision and often finds his teammates, he prefers shooting the ball.

The other guard who will be paired with the greatest shooter of all-time is Magic Johnson. Magic is an unusual, yet traditional point guard. He'll likely be the facilitator for Curry's squad as he's 6-foot-9 and can find anyone on the floor.

Forwards

In Steph's lineup, Michael Jordan is a small forward, not too far from his original position as a shooting guard. He has some experience in being at the three as he played the position during his stint with the Washington Wizards.

At four, it's Dirk Nowitzki. The German floor spacer is the greatest player in the history of the Dallas Mavericks. Along with the Golden State Warriors star, he'll be a threat from beyond the arc.

Center

The man in the middle is Shaquille O'Neal. Honestly, there's no need to explain how O'Neal will make an impact. His dominance inside will prove to be a matchup problem against anyone who dares. The only problem for Shaq would be his poor free-throw shooting, but other than that, he'll wreak havoc in the paint.
