Trae Young has apologized to Atlanta Hawks fans who got and touched the game ball he threw, after Sunday’s win over the Chicago Bulls. Young was flabbergasted when the NBA fined him $25,000 for tossing the ball into the stands.

The NBA’s Executive Vice President and Head of Basketball Operations, Joe Dumars, announced the punishment to the Hawks superstar on Monday. Young responded to his suspension via Twitter, apologizing to whoever got the game ball. He was unaware that he can’t toss the ball into their own stands.

"Sorry to the hawks fan(s) who got a chance to touch the game winning ball," Young tweeted. "Didn't know I couldn't do that. Can't celebrate sh*t anymore."

The Boston Celtics’ Grant Williams was also recently punished for punching the ball into the stands against the Golden State Warriors. Williams was given a technical foul and was ejected from the game. The NBA fined Williams $20,000.

It's worth noting that Trae Young tossed the ball after the game, while Williams punched the ball with around two minutes left in the fourth quarter. Young did it in Atlanta, where a fan got the souvenir of a lifetime, and Williams’ incident happened in San Francisco.

Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks snapped a three-game losing streak on Sunday. Young had 19 points, two rebounds and 12 assists in the Hawks’ thrilling 123-122 overtime win over the Chicago Bulls. Bogdan Bogdanovic was huge off the bench, scoring 28 points and adding seven boards and five dimes.

Clint Capela had 15 points and 14 rebounds, while De'Andre Hunter added 16 points. AJ Griffin, who hit the game-winning, buzzer-beating shot, had 17 points and two rebounds. He received an inbounds alley-oop pass from Jalen Johnson, twisting in the air for the acrobatic finish.

Meanwhile, DeMar DeRozan had 34 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists for the struggling Bulls. Zach LaVine had 21 points, three rebounds and three assists, while Nikola Vucevic had 13 points and eight rebounds. Derrick Jones Jr. and Andre Drummond each had 14 points off the bench.

Young hit a jump shot with one second left in overtime to give the Hawks a 121-119 lead. However, DeRozan was fouled from beyond the arc with 0.5 seconds remaining. He calmly sunk three free throws to give the Bulls a one-point margin. While Chicago thought that they wrapped the game up, Griffin rescued the Hawks for the win.

Atlanta improved to 14-13 with their victory, but lost the next day to the Memphis Grizzlies. On the other hand, the Bulls continue to struggle with consistency. The loss to the Hawks came off the heels of an impressive win over the Dallas Mavericks.
