Michael Jordan, widely known as the greatest of all time, is also the richest NBA athlete of all time. He is currently estimated to be worth $1.8 billion, the first NBA player to cross the billion threshold. LeBron James is the only other player to reach that mark.

Jordan is known for his flamboyant lifestyle and his enormous spending sprees. He is so competitive that he includes betting and gambling in most things in his life, from golf matches to card games. His Nike deal makes him hundreds of millions per year, and he has invested his wealth in several ventures.

What are some of Michael Jordan's most coveted possessions?

Other rich athletes spend a few million on cars and houses, but His Airness is in a league of his own. He owns multiple mansions, has an exorbitant car collection, an impressive watch collection and more. Michael Jordan has been seen wearing the Ulysse Nardin Royal Blue Tourbillon, a watch worth $1.1 million, more expensive than most of his cars.

Here are five of Michael Jordan's most luxurious and rare purchases.

#5, Mercedes-McLaren SLR 722 Edition and Bugatti Veyron Sang Noir

Michael Jordan boasts a very impressive car collection containing a few Ferraris, a few Mercedes, numerous Porsches, two Corvettes, a Bentley, an Aston Martin and more. However, his most expensive car is the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 Edition worth a whopping $3 million dollars.

SLR McLaren cars are rare vehicles anyway, but the 722 Edition is a step further. Only 150 units of this particular model were ever created, and one of them sits in Jordan's garage.

Additionally, he owns a Bugatti Veyron Sang Noir worth over $2 million.

#4, Florida estate

The Chicago Bulls legend owns a number of luxurious properties across America. He recently sold a mansion in Utah for $7.5 million and has a gigantic manor in Chicago worth around $14.5 million. Additionally, he also owns a $2.6 million mansion in North Carolina. However, his most expensive home is the estate he is building in Florida in the town of Jupiter.

Jordan reportedly spent $12.8 million on the property and an estimated additional $7.6 million on renovations and amenities.

The property features a 28,000 square-foot mansion with 11 bedrooms, a two-story guard house, a basketball court, a lavish workout facility and much more. The house is considered "the most expensive non-waterfront home in the Palm Beaches." It reportedly took six months to plan and 18 months to complete and is located on a golf course developed by golf legend Jack Nicklaus.

#3, Gulfstream G550 jet

Unlike any other athlete in the sport, Michael Jordan owns a private jet worth an exorbitant $61.5 million. The jet is the Gulfstream G550, and his plane's tail number is N236MJ, signifying his jersey number, his six NBA titles and his initials. The company Gulfstream made less than 600 units of the G550 model since 2003, until it ceased production in 2021.

Jordan recently modified his jet with a gray elephant print, matching it to his Air Jordan 3 sneakers, to make his vehicle look unique in the sky. Earlier, his jet was entirely plain white with light blue stripes and his Jumpman logo. The custom-made jet also features his Jumpman logo at the bottom of the aircraft, so people on the ground can recognize the plane.

#2, Luxury yacht

If Michael Jordan has a vehicle in the air and on the roads, you can be certain he has to make his presence felt in the water. He owns a monstrous $80 million superyacht named "Joy." The yacht is over 230 feet long and features several luxurious amenities such as a basketball court, spa rooms with jacuzzis and saunas, a massive luxury suite, seven decks, a helipad and much more.

He also owns a sports-fishing yacht named "Catch 23" worth around $8 million. He uses it for offshore sports-fishing tournaments. The boat has the same wrap as his private jet, after his Air Jordan 3 sneaker.

His Airness' most expensive purchase is the Charlotte Hornets franchise by far. He paid a whopping $175 million for the team in 2010, and it is currently valued at $1.57 billion. Although he made a massive profit on his investment, the Hornets are still one of the cheapest teams in the association.

He also owns and operates 23XI Racing in NASCAR and reportedly spent around $150 million on the team.

Micheal Jordan sold the majority stake in the Charlotte Hornets franchise on August 3rd, 2023.

After a rather disappointing 13 years as the majority owner of the Charlotte Hornets franchise (formerly known as the Charlotte Bobcats), Michael Jordan has officially sold his majority stake in the NBA franchise.

According to ESPN Insider Adrian Wojnarowski, the majority stake in the NBA franchise sold at an approximate valuation of $3 Billion.

From a business standpoint, Michael Jordan acquired the majority stake in 2010 for an estimated valuation of $275 Million and ended up selling it at nearly 91% net profit margin. Michael Jordan will remain a minority owner in the Hornet’s franchise, which means he will still be involved in the functioning of the franchise.
