Ernest Hausmann is an American college football player who will play his third year of college football with the Michigan Wolverines. Hausmann was born in Uganda and was adopted by an American couple at the age of two. He grew up in Nebraska and started his football career at Columbus High School where he was a two-way standout player and played in both defensive and offensive positions. In his final season with prep school, Hausmann recorded 80 tackles, eight tackles for loss, two sacks and four pass breakups. Hausmann was ranked the No.5 player from the state of Nebraska by 247Sports in the 2022 recruiting class. The three-star linebacker from Columbus embarked on his collegiate football journey with Nebraska Cornhuskers despite holding Power Five offers from Arizona State, Michigan State, Michigan, Kansas State, Michigan State, Minnesota, and Iowa.

In his freshman season, Hausmann saw significant playing time as he appeared in all 12 games with seven stars as a linebacker and recorded 54 tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack and a fumble recovery. But after just one season with the Cornhuskers, Hausmann transferred to Michigan in late December 2022. In his first year as a Wolverine, Hausmann appeared in all 15 games as a linebacker and contributed to special teams while winning his first national championship. Last year as a sophomore, Hausmann tallied 46 total tackles and 2.0 tackles for loss. He is expected to be a key contributor on the defense and will look to hold the second level down this season.
