Ian Jackson is an inside linebacker for the UTSA Roadrunners and will be a redshirt junior in 2024. He is a native of Prattville, Alabama, and graduated from Prattville High School. Jackson had an impressive high school career, he made more than 100 tackles in his last two seasons. In 2021, Jackson began his collegiate career with the Alabama Crimson Tide and was redshirted as a freshman. In 2022, he played three games for the Crimson Tide, mainly contributing on special teams. He transferred to UTSA in 2024 after spending two seasons with Alabama, where he will also be pursuing a degree in communication.

Ian Jackson had a remarkable high school career at Prattville. Jackson received many accolades, one of which was being named on the Alabama Sports Writers Association Class 7A All-State Second Team. He earned a consensus four-star rating from 247Sports and was ranked as one of the top linebackers in Alabama. Jackson was labeled as the No. 216 player on the Top247 list and was ranked as the No. 14 player as an inside linebacker by 247Sports. He was also ranked as the No. 14 outside linebacker in the country and No. 7 in Alabama on the 247 Composite list. Jackson was rated as the eighth player from Alabama by Rivals, 247Sports, and ESPN.
