Nico Iamaleava is one of the highly-rated quarterbacks in college football who will play his second year with the Tennessee Volunteers. Iamaleava played high school football at Long Beach Polytechnic High School before transferring to Warren High School in his sophomore year. In his junior season, Iamaleava recorded 2,244 passing yards and 33 touchdowns and led Warren to the Division 2 playoff appearance. As a senior, he was named the 2022 Polynesian High School Player of the Year after he threw for 1,726 yards and 25 touchdowns. Coming out of Long Beach as the No.2 quarterback in the nation, Iamaleava started his collegiate football journey with Tennessee in 2023, over offers from Alabama, Arizona, Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Oregon and USC among others. In his freshman season in 2023, Iamaleava appeared in five games with one start and served as backup to Joe Milton before redshirting the year. His debut campaign ended with 314 passing yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. Iamaleava has been named the starting quarterback and will lead the Volunteers' attack going into the 2024 season.
