Steve Sarkisian is the head coach, appointed by the Texas Longhorns in January 2021. He played as a quarterback and earned a selection to the All-American Team before graduating from BYU in 1997. Steve has over 20 years of coaching experience and 11 years as a head coach. He coached for two NFL teams, the Oakland Raiders and the Atlanta Falcons. Sarkisian received the Broyles Award for being the nation’s best assistant coach of the year in 2020.

Steve Sarkisian had a remarkable season in 2023 when he led the Texas Longhorns to a record of 12-2. He guided the team to the Big 12 Championship and also qualified for the College Football Playoff semifinal. Under Sarkisian, Texas finished the season as the No. 3 team in the AP Poll for the first time since 2011. His team's offense and defense were also ranked in the top 15 programs in the nation. Sarkisian became the youngest coach to win the conference championship and earned the Big 12 Coach of the Year award from the Associated Press. He also finished as a finalist for several other national coaching awards, including the Bear Bryant, George Munger, and Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year awards.

Steve Sarkisian and his spouse, Loreal, just moved into a $7.5 million home in Austin's exclusive Westlake neighborhood, according to Chron. They are currently attempting to sell their Rollingwood property, which they had to lower from $7.5 million for a fair trade of homes to $5.88 million. The house was first put up for sale in September 2022 for $7.5 million, but in October 2023, the asking price was reduced to $5.9 million.
