Braxton Hicks is a defensive back for the Austin Peay Football team, as of 2024. Braxton Hicks began his college football career at the University of Georgia, where he played from 2020 to 2023. As a redshirt freshman in 2020, Hicks did not play in any games. In 2021, he made his collegiate debut against UAB and also saw action against South Carolina and Charleston Southern. Hicks continued to contribute to the Bulldogs' offense over the next two seasons. In 2024, Hicks transferred to Austin Peay, where he has become a key player for the Governors' offense.

He attended Rabun County High School and played football for his high school team, under the guidance of Coach Jaybo Shaw. Hicks averaged 67.1 yards per game and 19.1 yards per reception. In his senior year in 2019, he reached a career-high with 1,216 yards and 65 catches, adding 12 touchdowns to his impressive record.

Hicks holds several records at Rabun County High School, including:

  • Most receptions in a single year (65)

  • Receiving yards (3,490)

  • Career touchdowns (46)

  • Career receptions (183)

His 46 career touchdowns are the most in GHSA history, and his 3,490 receiving yards rank him sixth all-time in GHSA history. As a senior captain and member of the 2019 Leadership Council, Hicks helped lead Rabun County to four consecutive region titles and a 48-5 record. He played a crucial role in the Wildcats' 2017 Class 2A state championship game, where he had a touchdown catch.

Hicks remains the only known receiver in GHSA history to record back-to-back-to-back 12-plus TD seasons. He was selected to play in the 2018 GACA North/South All-Star Classic and was named to the 2019 Touchdown Club of Atlanta All-Star team as a defensive back. Additionally, he was honored as the 2019 Region 8-AA Athlete Player of the Year.
