Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has arguably been the best IPL team with three titles in the bag. On the other side of the table, lies the Delhi-based franchise, Delhi Capitals (DC). Previously known as the Delhi Daredevils (DD), they managed to reach the knockout stages only thrice in eleven editions of the Indian Premier League (IPL). They have not played in any of the IPL finals yet. CSK has won the Champions League T20 (CLT20) twice whereas DC are yet to win the CLT20 as well.
Their contests against each other have been proof of their position in the overall IPL tournament. The two teams have played each other 18 times in the IPL. CSK have a head-to-head lead winning 12 games out of these. They enjoyed a winning streak of 7 against DC from May 2012 to May 2015. They faced each other for the first time on 2 May 2008 at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Delhi beat the home side by 8 wickets riding on half-centuries from openers Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag. Their most recent meeting was on 19 May 2018 at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi. CSK could not chase an above par score of 162 and lost the match by 34 runs. Rishabh Pant, Vijay Shankar and Harshal Patel were the stars with the bat for Delhi as they made 30+ runs each in quick time.

When it comes to taking wickets, no bowler has been better than the offie Ravichandran Ashwin (17 wickets). The highest total in a CSK v DC fixture is 222, made by CSK and the lowest total is 83 scored by DC.
