Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has arguably been the best IPL team with four titles in the bag. On the other side of the table, lies the Delhi-based franchise, Delhi Capitals (DC). Previously known as the Delhi Daredevils (DD), they managed to reach the knockout stages only four times in fourteen editions of the Indian Premier League (IPL). CSK has won the Champions League T20 (CLT20) twice whereas DC are yet to win the CLT20 as well.
Their contests against each other have been proof of their position in the overall IPL tournament. The two teams have played each other 27 times in the IPL. CSK have a head-to-head lead winning 17 games out of these and DC winning 10 games. They enjoyed a winning streak of 7 against DC from May 2012 to May 2015. They faced each other for the first time on 2 May 2008 at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Delhi beat the home side by 8 wickets riding on half-centuries from openers Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag.
