Keeping the COVID-19 pandemic in mind, the BCCI made the call to host IPL matches at venues in close proximity to each other.

The playoffs will start after May 22, with the final match scheduled to take place on May 29. The venues for the IPL 2022 playoffs are yet to be decided.

Wankhede Stadium

Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium will host the most matches in the league phase of IPL 2022. The BCCI has allotted 20 to the stadium in Mumbai. In the initial phases of IPL, 25% seating capacity is allowed, meaning around 8,000 fans can attend the matches at Wankhede Stadium.

Dr DY Patil Stadium

The DY Patil Stadium is the largest venue in terms of seating capacity for this year’s IPL league stage. The venue has a seating capacity of 55,000, and it is scheduled to host 20 matches in IPL 2022.

Brabourne Stadium

Brabourne Stadium has the least seating capacity among the four venues selected for the league phase of IPL 2022. The venue has hosted multiple IPL matches previously, and this year, it will play host to 15 league games, with around 5,000 fans expected to be present for the initial matches.

Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium

The only stadium outside Mumbai that will host IPL 2022 league matches is the MCA Stadium located in Gahunje. Fans in Pune will get a chance to witness IPL matches after a long time. The cricket universe should expect an electric atmosphere for the matches at the MCA Stadium.
