Hailing from Perth in Western Australia, Jack Della Maddalena, also known as "JDM", is a 28-year-old professional MMA fighter. He competes in the welterweight division of the organization (170 lbs). Standing at five feet, 11 inches tall with a 73-inch reach, Maddalena competes in an orthodox stance and he predominantly uses a boxing fighting style. He began as a rugby player at the age of eight while attending school. Maddalena joined a boxing gym at fourteen to enhance his physical fitness for rugby and, in the process, developed a passion for combat sports.

He debuted as a pro on March 12, 2016, losing his first two bouts by TKO and submission. He rebounded with a nine-fight winning streak, winning and defending the Eternal Welterweight title four times. His Dana White's Contender Series 39 performance earned him a UFC contract following a unanimous decision victory over Ange Loosa. Maddalena made his UFC debut at UFC 270 on January 22, 2022, with a first-round TKO of Pete Rodriguez. The Australian native holds a record of 17–2-0 and is ranked #5 in the UFC welterweight division, as of May 6, 2025.

Jack Della Maddalena Nose Injury

Jack Della Maddalena, the UFC welterweight title challenger from Perth, Australia, has a crooked nose. The injury occurred when he competed in his second professional MMA fight, where he was kneed directly in the nose. The impact broke his nose, and it was left permanently deviated. Remembering the experience, Della Maddalena said:

"I got kneed straight in the nose, and since that day, it's been facing the wrong way."

Despite the visible deformity, Della Maddalena has deliberately chosen not to get corrective surgery during his active fighting career. His explanation for declining is as follows:

"I am going to get it fixed one day. But I thought, what’s the point of getting it fixed now when my job is to get punched in it. But I will get it fixed one day."
