Matt Schnell’s Next Fight

American mixed martial artist Matthew Christopher Schnell was born on January 15, 1990. Right now, he fights in the Ultimate Fighting Championship's Flyweight division. Schnell previously fought for the Legacy Fighting Alliance, where he held the title of flyweight champion. He is ranked #8 in the UFC flyweight rankings as of May 2023.

Schnell appeared in the 2012 MTV reality series “Caged” as one of the young MMA fighters. Four aspiring MMA fighters from a small Louisiana town were the main subjects of the series.

On May 11, 2016, the UFC revealed that the 16 competitors for The Ultimate Fighter: Tournament of Champions would be flyweight champions from various international organizations, with the victor potentially facing Demetrious Johnson in a title match. Schnell was chosen to be a member of Team Cejudo.

Schnell, seeded at #6, faced #11 Matt Rizzo in the first round of the competition and won by submission with a triangle choke in round two. In the quarterfinals, Schnell played against Tim Elliott, the third-seeded player. A bulldog choke in the opening round caused him to lose the fight via submission.

In his latest match, Schnell took on Matheus Nicolau at UFC on ESPN 42 on December 3, 2022. In the second round, he was knocked out of the fight.
