American MMA fighter Stephen Thompson was born on February 11, 1983, in Simpsonville, South Carolina, U.S. Before being recognized in MMA, Thompson was a celebrated kickboxer with no losses to his name in the professional circuit. ‘Wonderboy’ made his octagon debut at UFC 143 and won the bout via a head kick knockout in the first round in 2012. Ever since Thompson has had nineteen fights in the promotion so far.
At the age of 15, Thompson began his journey in kickboxing and karate. He has attained black belt levels in Tetsushin-ryū Kempo, American Kickboxing, and Jujutsu. In addition, he is a student of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Carlos Machado, who happens to be his brother-in-law. Thompson completed high school in 2001 and currently serves as the Head Instructor for the children's karate program at Upstate Karate.
