One of the top stars of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), Julianna Pena has been active on the professional mixed martial arts scene since 2009. She competed in her inaugural mixed martial arts match as a professional on May 9, 2009, in a bout against Raylene Harvey. Pena took off to a perfect start by submitting Harvey in round one to win the fight and progress forward in her career.

Owing to her success as a professional mixed martial artist, Julianna Pena made it to the top when she earned a women’s bantamweight title opportunity against Amanda Nunes. The duo fought each other on December 11, 2021, at UFC 259, where Pena wrested the bantamweight throne from Nunes. She lost the belt in a rematch against Nunes on July 30, 2022, at UFC 277. Pena returned to the octagon to take on the then-bantamweight champion Raquel Pennington at UFC 307 on October 5, 2024, whom she beat via a split decision to become a two-time UFC women's bantamweight champion.
